It’s official – the SOS Academy, class of 2012, has arrived and begun learning and serving our city.  They’ll spend the next 11 months being challenged and discipled as they learn to love God and their neighbor in the inner city of Memphis, TN. Their year will be filled with some of the following:

Living in Binghampton, a low-income urban neighborhood in Memphis.

Serving among some of our partner ministries – like Cornerstone Prep, Christ Community Ministries, A Way Out, Binghampton Development Corporation, Eikon, and of course, SOS.

Taking a vision trip to do evangelism with a local church in northern India.

Participating in the Downline Institute.

Learning from books like When Helping Hurts, Generous Justice, Compassion, Justice and the Christian Life, and Radical.

Leading our home repair camp in Orange Mound (another low-income urban neighborhood in Memphis), SOS114.

We’re so excited that they’re here!

In the coming weeks we will introduce you to each one of them through our blog, so check back for details.

If you are a college student or recent college grad, you should consider spending a year in Memphis with the SOS Academy!

All of our interns are responsible for raising their own support for the year.  If you would like to financially support any of these girls, you can do so here – DONATE.  Simply mark your donation for the SOS Academy or put the name of the intern you would like to support.

Will this ladies be helping at REP.? I know that here is a need for tutors for the children and ESL classes for the adults. Cathy and I would like to have the girls over for a meal while they are in Memphis.

    In Christ,
