Summer
SOS Summer Camps
Who comes to SOS?
High school and junior high groups come from all over the United States for a one-week mission trip as SOS leads them into the inner city of Memphis to do home repairs. We hope to instill a heart for missions as these youth serve others in the name of Christ. As an expression of Christ’s love, SOS seeks to empower persons and transform neighborhoods by utilizing volunteers to renovate homes of economically disadvantaged homeowners.
Who supervises the participants?
SOS will notify you of the number of work teams your group will be divided into. Each work team will consist of approximately 6 students and 1 adult volunteer (age 21 years or older) from your group. An SOS staff person will also work with each team. Your adult leaders will provide evening supervision, including during lights out. Our full-time and summer staff will provide programming, home, and additional evening supervision.
How Much does it cost?
Each high school and junior high camp costs $335.00 per person. This covers housing, meals, materials, tools, programming, and a SOS camp t-shirt. Please see our payment contract for more details.
Where so we Stay?
Your group will eat, sleep, shower, worship, and just hang out at the SOS Center located at 2505 Poplar Avenue, in the Binghampton neighborhood of Memphis.

What do we bring?
Each group is responsible for their own transportation. Each volunteer needs to bring a sleeping bag or twin sheets, pillow, work clothes, work gloves, water bottle, and personal items. As for tools and building materials, SOS will provide everything your group will need. Therefore, you do not need to bring any of your own tools. However, SOS may ask your group to bring small items such as paint brushes, rollers, etc, dependent upon the work for your particular week. Your group will be charged for any lost or broken tools during your week at camp. A complete list of what to bring will be emailed to you after your registration is received.
When do we arrive and leave?
Our mission camps begin on Sunday. Please arrive between 3-4 PM. Junior high week (Session 4) ends at 9 AM on Friday. All other camps end at 9 AM on Saturday.
What do we do at night?
SOS exists to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed through urban home repair camps. Each evening there will be a program that is filled with worship, fun, and a Christ-centered message. We want each participant to hear a call to love and serve our risen Lord, Jesus Christ. Each Wednesday afternoon and evening your group is free to enjoy our city (dinner will not be provided by SOS on Wednesday night).
